Norwegian Boeing 787 Dreamliner as DY7210 BKK-CPH

The Iran trip has reached its end. After more than a week of flying joy around Persia and the ASEAN it was time to return back home. Once again I flew back via Copenhagen. First BKK-CPH with Norwegian Air Shuttle and later on to Warsaw with SAS (this was a night night flight which I spent sleeping). The first leg though was hard to sleep on. 12 hours of flying from Bangkok to Copenhagen, the sun outside for the entire time granting us nice views on the Himalayas and Caucasus mountains. It also was my first long-haul flight on the 787 Dreamliner.

A view over Bangkok city after departing BKK and banking right.

At the airport I arrive around 7:30 am with a shuttle bus from my hotel. The check-in is easy to find and there is practically no queue. Later, before proceeding though the security and passport controls I walk around looking for perhaps any good spotting spot. Unfortunately without any luck. Without anything better to do I go on looking for my gate. Nevertheless I couldn't resist walking around without any goal, but still no luck finding a good spotting spot. So I give up, eat breakfast (knowing the meal on the 12h flight will not be sufficient) and so time passes by. It's nearly boarding time. At the gate no luck with photo opportunities either. All that is left are photos from outside the window while taxiing. Seated in row 13 the wing doesn't make the job easy. After take-off a nice panoramic view of the city combined with the wing appears. I would only wish for a little more sun, but you can't have everything.
On we fly, to the north-west. Slowly getting closer to Denmark. Some mood lighting is turned on, shades are blocked at maximum half, giving a blueish color to all the photos. At least you may look out, not like with the conventional technology.Throughout the flight you may order snacks from your PTV and pay for them at your seat, via the PTV aswell. They are later brought to you by the crew. Those who ordered a meal pre-flight get it served after a couple of hours and later before landing a second, smaller snack. The choice of movies, games, music etc. in the IFE is satisfactory but you better have your own headphones. Landing gently with some nice, slowly setting sun around. Good to be back in Europe, but it could be tad warmer :) Before exiting the plane a short session of the cabin and the crew.
Overall, flying the Dreamliner was a pleasant experience, quieter, very smooth and after the flight I still had the will and energy for a long walk around the city before returning to the airport for my last flight which was rather strictly a shuttle flight. Be sure to check-out the video review at the end of the entry.
